Born in Donetsk. In 1983 graduated from the Kiev State Choreographic School under the program of the Vaganova Choreographic Academy (the class of G. Kirillova, V. Denisenko). In 1984–1985 had an internship at the Bolshoi Theater (the coaches — V.Nikonov, R. Struchkova, A.Messerer). In 1991 trained at the Mariinsky Theater (the Kirov Ballet). 

A Laureate of international competitions including the All-Ukrainian Competition of Ballet Dancers (Kyiv, 1983), the V All-Union Competition of Ballet Dancers (Moscow, 1984), the International Competition of Ballet Dancers (Helsinki, 1984), the International Competition of Ballet Dancers (Paris, 1984), the International Ballet Competition (Moscow, 1985), etc. 

Since 1983 he has been a soloist of the Donetsk Ballet Company. In 1992–95 worked under the contract as a leading soloist of the ballet company at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Düsseldorf. 

He has toured in more than 70 countries around the world. His repertoire includes more than 50 ballet parts and choreographic pieces. 

Since 1994 he has been the founder and director of the International Festival «The World Ballet Stars» in Donetsk.
